Laugharne Castle

There is a greater density of castles in Wales than any other country in the world. It is not that we were aggressive, just reluctant to give up our land. Laugharne Castle was built by Robert Courtemain, probably in 1116 and was knocked down and rebuilt several times between then and 1585. It was then that Sir John Perrot made a valiant attempt to convert it into a tudor mansion.
Just seven years later Sir John died in the Tower of London. - probably not of old age.
