Down
here in glittering Swansea we have enjoyed a whole year of celebrating
Dylan Thomas's 100th birthday. There have been countless radio
and television programmes, locally there have been many plays
and recitals of his work - most of which were excellent. Inevitably
we had to suffer blatant hangings on to Dylan's coat-tails where
it can fairly be said that only the performers were blissfully
ignorant of their mediocrity. But such is life!
I
forget how many performances of 'Under Milk Wood' I saw, each
one dealt with in a different way, all exceedingly enjoyable.
'The Little Cough' was performed as a piece of walking theatre
at Rhossili and again, more conventionally, at the Little Theatre.
The delightful book 'A Child's Christmas in Wales' is wonderful
to read - out loud!
