this abandoned brickworks? Porthwen is on the north east coast
of Anglesey and you will never see it from the road, you will
however pass right by it while walking on Anglesey's dramatic
coastal path. You suddenly come across it on the other side of
a circular bay when you do the path in an anti clockwise direction
from Bull Bay and you can't help being intrigued.
It produced refractory bricks for the steel industry from the
early part of the 20th century but closed down at the start of
the First World War. That means it has been in its abandoned state
almost five times longer that it was in use.
