I had been to Talley Abbey the day before but, being Sunday, there were too many people about and anyway the clouds refused to part so I left with nothing to show for the day. The following day however there was promise of sunshine in the afternoon followed by a clear night so I was optimistic that the forecasters would be correct.

They were, and what is more there was not a soul to be seen so I had all the time in the world to enjoy the afternoon.
