So, there you are. You now know a bit more than you did about the most important event in the Welsh calendar, but it isn't the only eisteddfod. Regional eisteddfods are held all over Wales and there are also Urdd eisteddfods for the schools. When you stop and think of it, Wales, our little country has produced far more than its fair share of singers, choirs, actors and leaders of industry when you take into account its size.
Culture is something we are not forced to but, encouraged to enjoy, and long may that continue.
As in the words of one of our most rousing songs "Ry'n ni yma o hyd" - "We are still here!"
