Mind you in those days you would not have encountered a display by the National Library nor the Principality Building Society. The Lord Rhys' Eisteddfod was to celebrate the finishing of his new castle at Cardigan. Bards from all over Wales were invited and competed with each other.

The Eisteddfod is the oldest European Festival.
