There again it may be that since Hay made an unilateral declaration of independence back in 1977, on April 1st of all days, the town feels that it has to do its best to please two masters. I suppose we must sympathise.
As you can see Hay on Wye has its own king, possibly a queen as well so unless you want to take up arms those honours are not at present open to you. Nevertheless you are still able to buy titles ranging from £25 for a knight or a lady (or £40 the pair) up to £50 for a duke or duchess (or £80 the pair). Included in the price would be an official passport.
