That large
solid lump in the background is Llandudno's rock but if you bite
a bit off you will not see the word 'Llandudno' written through
it simply because there is insufficient room. That rock, you see
is part of the Great Orme and it is full to bursting with 5 miles
worth of tunnels so it is more like a Malteser than a stick of
rock. This particular bit of history takes us back to the bronze
age when the rock's copper deposits were exploited in order to
make axes, arrowheads and all sorts of other tools, these products
were exported to all parts of the known world at the time. We
tend to flippantly dismiss our really ancient ancestors as animal-skin
clad figures living simply in their isolated communities but they
were manufacturers and traders that sold their wares widely. They
were ust like us really but their salesmen didn't drive Mondeos
and there were no white van delivery drivers. If you go to Llandudno
you can walk through
these tunnels and learn a bit about how they lived.
