From Machynlleth there are two ways to get to Dolgellau and recently I have been favouring the route that goes through Corris. I'm glad I did because when I came over the top from Corris and descended to the valley south of Cader Idris the setting sun was colouring the bracken a beautiful gold. Not having anywhere in particular to stay I decided to go down the valley past Talyllyn Lake and I am so glad I did. I could tell you this was tranquil but I am standing on a cobbled pavement by the side of a not-too wide road and drivers were clearly anxious to get back to their wives.
