A
few miles further up the Wye from Chepstow and Tintern
Abbey comes into view. I am always amazed at the way structures
such as this are still standing some 500 years after the dissolution
considering modern day buildings seem to have such a short life
span. I suppose in those days most of the big projects would have
been castles and town walls so builders of that age were used
to erecting buildings that lasted. Wonderful really that these
buildings that have survived centuries are also pleasing to the
eye.
