The
International Eisteddfod in Llangollen was the vision of Harold
Tudor of Coedpoeth near Wrexham and clearly the inspiration arose
from the National Eisteddfod. The idea was to heal the wounds
created by the second World War by bringing countries together
in cultural competition. The National Eisteddfod was approached
but were themselves busily occupied with rebuilding their own
organisation after the war so were unable to assist.
It was a brilliant idea and has been a great success - where else
could that have happened other than in Wales?
