For 123 years alcohol was banned on the eisteddfod field but the Newport eisteddfod in 2004 ended that. I don't think that it has been the problem that was feared and the change was surely well overdue. Probably the only dry festival left in Wales is the Annual Shindig of the Welsh Temperance Society and I have never been tempted to visit that.
