A
view up the lake from the top of the dam showing the Straining
Tower in the distance and a splash of autumn colour on the trees.
I am standing on a structure which is holding back up to 59666
megalitres of water but I don't feel nervous as the dam has been
doing just that since 1888 - and that was before I was born! There
is a road that runs around the lake and I cycled round it once,
completely flat but on the southern side it can be very cold as
it will be mostly in the shade.
