For a small place Llanberis has a great deal to offer a tourist. The Welsh Highland Railway is not too far away, starting from Caernarfon, but Llanberis itself has The Slate Museum, The Snowdon Railway and also The Electric Mountain - all within a hop of each other. When I was trying to book the tickets I could not get convenient times in order to do both the railway and the mountain but I have done the mountain three times anyway.

It is an electricity generating station and what they did was construct a lake at the top of the mountain, made a great big hollow in the middle then built a tunnel to connect the two. They then built a huge generating station in the hollow then made a tunnel from the generators into the lake below. But nature provided the lake at the bottom so really it wasn't such a big deal as all that was it!
