I reached
the Cregennan lakes and parked the van, the light was very clear
so I ambled about the lakeside enjoying the tranquility, it wasn't
going to last long. There was a light breeze that lapped the waves
against the rocks and some bird song, nothing more. I remember
this lake from when I was a short trousered, scabby kneed boy
with a bamboo pole and a bent pin optimistically trying to catch
a fish, I never did of course but perhaps the object was to keep
me quiet. My grandmother lived in Dolgellau so we had holidays
there every year. I remember there being a 'carreg ateb' here
(an echo stone), it will still be here but it wasn't for me to
break the peacefulness.
