Building
on the castle
was started in 1067 and anyone who was listening in their history
classes of long ago will immediately realise that was the year
after the battle of Hastings (sometimes known as the battle of
Poirot's sidekick). I have not been inside but the Great Hall
is still as its original state so that will be a priority for
my next visit. Anyway the castle is clearly the first to be built
in Wales and as the Welsh did not give up their struggle until
1283 that means we spent 216 years putting up a good fight. Something
to be proud of!
