On then through
the field which serves as the car park and through the gate to
resume my coastal walk only to be met by a rushing lady who said
she was trying to escape persistent horseflies. I amusingly said
"I've never seen a horse fly!" but she somehow wasn't
in the mood for humour. I crossed the track to the lifeboat station
and wandered down to see if there was potential for a photograph
but there is no viewpoint so all you see is its back. I continued
and was soon crossing the edge of a field with views of the estuary,
this is oil and gas country and the infrastructure is impressive.
This is the terminal for the colossal
gas tankers that arrive from Qatar after an 18 day journey.
It is transported in liquified form and stored onshore at -160
degrees centigrade, regasified as required and fed into the grid.
