To me in my schooldays history was a boring subject because the 'story' part of history was somewhat overlooked but if we look around us history is everywhere and with a little imagination it can become very exciting. Every area yields a multitude of books on local history and there is great pleasure to be derived from exploring, firstly these books, and then the areas that they cover so that the past - you know that age before electricity, radio, television and computers - can become alive once more.
Nature and the inevitable modern urge to develop is fighting hard to hide it from us. Time is short!
