A Walk above Mumbles

I'm late, I'm late! and if that suggests to you that I am like the Mad Hatter at the moment then that is exactly how it is. This last week has been exceptionally busy and there has been no time to add a record of last week's walk - and we are off on another one in the early hours of tomorrow morning. Well 9.00am anyway!

Last week's walk was a gentle one because three of us who were walking had time limitations with engagements ranging from entertaining kids to entertaining adults. I was not encumbered at all but I fell in with the rest of them because that was better than acting like
a Billy-no-Mates on my own.

We took the bus down to Oystermouth and walked to Bracelet Bay then over the top behind Mumbles village and back to Oystermouth.

I'm not altogether certain who this person is but several people claim it to be me. All I can say is that I didn't realise I was so good looking.

If it is me then there must be another photographer in our group.

And as a matter of fact there is. He is my friend Dave who after reading the write-ups thought that walking with us would be quite relaxing.

Huh! Relaxing indeed!

This is a picture of a boat that attracted his eye.

While you have been reading all that we have reached the pier so it is a walk up some steep steps to the upper car park from which we are in sight of our first destination.

Yes here we are having reached Castellamare and we stop to enjoy some refreshments, and why not? We have been walking for at least half an hour!

We drag ourselves away from the comfort of the cafe and walk up an exhaustingly steep path where we lean over some railings to gaze over the bay and get our breath back before continuing on our way.

We send Mike ahead just in case of wild animals.

All is clear so Dave does the right thing and leads the way.

We were very pleased to see these blackberries and have the reassurance that were we to get lost for ever in this wilderness we could at least make some blackberry crumble.

After what must have been all of two miles - (yes two! we shall try and build on that in time) we arrive within sight of Oystermouth Castle. So our destination is excitingly close. Can you guess where we're going?

Hands up all those who got the answer right!

Yes, we were destined for the White Rose where some lunch was eagerly devoured and naturally it just had to be washed down with some life-giving ale!

Very nice it was too.

If you're curious about why I have been so busy in the last week well I'll tell you. Amongst other things we visited a distillery and we didn't have to go to Scotland!
