And the third
part of this cluster at Penmaenpool is the old signal box and
I'm very glad that it is still here, as also would my siblings
and all my cousins because we used to be very familiar with it.
In those far away days of short trousers and our annual holidays
in Dolgellau 'Uncle George' used to be the signalman here (he
was probably George IV, keep up, keep up!) and so when he was
on duty we would traipse down to Dolgellau station, get on the
train and get off here where 'Uncle George' would give us a real
welcome and take us up into the signalroom - all those levers!
and so impossible to move! Great days! Nostalgia will always be
a thing of the past.
