Now we reach
the welcome watering hole that is the George
III, it seems to be doing good trade as usual. As you can
see a group of cyclists have succumbed to temptation. This hostelry
was built in 1650 as a support to all those thirsty boatbuilders
that earned their living in the vicinity. Boatbuilders were everywhere
in those days, every river had at least one but sadly nowadays
more and more boats are built in factories, many of them quite
a distance from the sea. Times change, lives and habits too, long
gone are the days when people didn't have to leave their communities
to train for a skilled job, everything was on their doorstep.
Good thing, bad thing? Who knows?
